- Do you have enough heating fuel to last the winter?
- Do you have enough secondary heating fuel?
- Do you have heat that works in a power outage?
- Did you seal drafts in the basement?
- Did you seal your windows?
- Did you plastic your windows?
- Did you patch the insulation in your attic?
- Did you detach the garden hose and turn off the water to the garden hose?
- Do you have a suitable winter shovel?
- Did you stock up on de-icer for walkways?
- Do you have the phone number for a good plow guy (alt: a decent plow/snowblower)
- Do you need to insulate your plumbing?
Woodstove/Fireplace/Pellet Stove Specific
- Did you clean the flue?
- Did you clean the ashes out?
- Is your firewood seasoned (if applicable)?
- Do you have sufficient wood pellets?
Oil/Propane/Natural Gas Furnace Specific
- Did you top up on oil?
- Did you replace the air filter, and do you have sufficient air filters on hand?
- Is the electric switch to the furnace set to "on"?
- Is your thermostat functional?
- Do a test run. Does the system start it's burn?
- Are the vents open or closed as appropriate?
- Is the cold air intake blocked?
Vehicles
- Do you have winter tires?
- Is your battery healthy?
- Have you replaced your antifreeze?
- Have you changed your oil?
- Do you have an ice-scraper and snow brush in the vehicle?
- Have you prepared an emergency kit?
- Jumper Cables?
- Blankets?
- Candles?
- Jack-stand?
- Spare tire?
- Board for jack stand to prevent it from sinking into loose soil?
- Extra gloves?
- Pliers?
- Reflective signal (To prevent collisions while stalled on side of highway)
- Tow straps?
